Sketch Exploration

From Caviar Ritual to Medallion Form

In the initial sketch exploration, the goal was not to design a conventional opener, but to create a symbolic object language that complements Rusel Caviar’s premium serving experience. The design emerged from the idea of transforming the short yet valuable moment of opening a caviar tin into a more refined, controlled, and ceremonial experience.
The medallion form was intentionally chosen during the sketch phase. A medallion creates the feeling of a precious object held in the hand, while also building a strong connection with the brand’s world of luxury, collectability, and memory. The circular main body visually aligns with the round form of the caviar tin, while the lower tab functions as the active element that helps lift the lid.
Technical Note: The geometry of this model has been preserved exactly from the original production package without any modification or decimation. To highlight the laser-engraved details and relief curves naturally, the model's primitives are programmatically separated based on local height levels: the flat surfaces, sailboat, waves, and outer body are rendered in a warm champagne gold (#E0C06A, roughness 0.30), while the recessed laser-cut grooves, text curves, and outline channels are rendered in a darker antique gold (#6F5518, roughness 0.48). A dynamic camera loop slowly rotates the model horizontally and oscillates the vertical angle (between 56° and 66°) to shift specular reflections across the metallic surface, using real-time shading to create natural depth inside the grooves.

Visual Story

Sea, Journey and Origin

The illustration was inspired by the ideas of sea, journey, and origin. The sailboat represents caviar’s connection with water and the timeless journey of a refined gastronomic experience. The surrounding wave lines refer both to the movement of water and to the rhythmic, precious nature of caviar pearls. As a result, the surface of the product becomes more than decoration; it becomes a visual storytelling field that carries the identity and narrative of the brand.
